fin de semana.

this past weekend was eventful to say the least! shreya and i went to the brazilian embassy to try and get a visa to enter brazil. however, they were closed.. so on the way home we stopped by a store to check out some things. i took my purse off, and in two seconds.

gone.

i ran the 10 blocks home to contact my program directors and call my parents. unfortunately, since we were heading to the brazilian embassy, i carried some super important things in my purse that day: passport, extra money, camera, cell phone, and a pack of gum :)

But God is so good. because shreya and i are safe. imagine if someone would of stolen shreya.. or me? the passport can be replaced (story about that to come.. just keep reading), the money will hopefully go to good, someone is taking some really sweet pictures, hopefully some little kid got the cell phone, and some argentine has some minty fresh breath now.

oh! blessing! one of my housemates is letting me borrow his camera for now. it just happens to be a really nice, new SLR!

passport story: so i woke up super early to go to the US Embassy first thing monday morning. i really just rolled out of bed, took a cab, and waited in line.. forever. well.. i finally get to the counter.. and the lady says "do you have two pictures for your passport?" i didn't. so she tells me to go outside to the park across the street and under a tree there is a man who will take my picture. (really?) so i go.. and there he is.. a man.. who really looked like a bum.. with a big white piece of paper hanging from a tree.. with a polaroid camera. again i'm thinking.. really?

so.. my new passport picture was taken in the middle of a park.. wind blowing in my hair.. with a polaroid camera.. for 20 pesos. love it.

first day of the internship: i spent the morning carrying for little babies! i shadowed a doctor with two other medical students. we took blood tests, checked for meconium staining (ew) and did check ups on about 9 newborns. i have a feeling i'm going to LOVE being at the hospital.

thank you so much for all your prayers. it means so much to me! and please let me know how i can be praying for you! i'm serious!
