it is almost a week since i've been living in buenos aires, yet it feels like so much longer than that! it's kinda nice, they give you a week to get adjusted and explore the city before beginning your internship. therefore, this coming monday will be my first day at the hospital!
hospital rivadavia. this is the public hospital i will be interning at. it is about a 7 minute walk from the house. i met with the doctor that i will be working with. dr. guitierez. here is the deal. every two weeks i will be working in different areas of the hospital. my first two weeks is pediatrics! the internship is mon. - thurs. i asked him, "why not friday"? and he said so that i could travel on the weekend! (legit). on wed. i will be helping out with HIV/AIDS prevention conferences and community outreaches. i am so stoked about that! and cannot wait to begin on monday!
student residence. i'm living in a house with 25 others from around the States as well as ireland, germany, london.. etc. it's been so sweet getting to know everyone at the house. we have such a sweet group of people, and are all stoked to be here, and planning trips to explore argentina!
so this week has been mainly exploring. last sunday was spent in san telmo. had some freshly squeezed orange juice. this place has tons of street vendors, with tons of things that you just have to buy! haha. i've gone to a couple of art museums, which of course is sick! and the other night i had some sushi! there was a live jazz band that played later on in the night, which was super chill! yesterday shreya and i walked over 10 miles around this town. we met some bladers (that's right.. roller bladers).
there is a lady here named blanca from paraguay. she is the cleaning lady/resident director. she is so sweet! and in the morning we drink mate together. which has become my new favorite drink. it's this super bitter green tea (but add some sugar and it's amazing).
ok. this post is way too long. but thank you for reading! please continue to pray for my time here at the house, and for God to provide opportunities to just be His hands and feet, especially once my internship begins!
